Dr. Rouba Al-Fattal Eeckelaert
Dr. Rouba Al-Fattal Eeckelaert is the Co-Founder & Vice President of the EuroArab Forum, a Brussels based NGO since 2007. She holds a PhD in Transatlantic Electoral Assistance in the Mediterranean from Leuven University in Belgium. She has obtained in Canada a B.A. (with honours) in international politics from McGill University and a M.Sc. in European politics from Montreal University. Rouba gained significant field experience having done prestigious internships at the Canadian Mission to the EU, the Security and Defence Agenda, and the NATO-Parliamentary Assembly as a Research Assistant for one year. She was also an Associate Editor at the Central European Journal for International and Security Studies (CEJISS). Rouba has published, lectured and worked as a project manager at various institutions including HIVA, CIMIC and McGill University. She received several research scholarships, and did a fellowship at PASSIA in Jerusalem during the summer of 2009. Dr. Al-Fattal is the author of the book European Union Foreign Policy in the Palestinian Territories (2010). Currently she works as a Senior Short-Term Expert for the European Commission (ENPI-Info Centre) with a focus on south Mediterranean countries. Recently Rouba won 4th Place in the Anna Lindh Foundation Euro-Med Dialogue Award Competition of 2011, for her work in building networks and fostering open exchanges between European and Arabs on a broad variety of issues that include political, social, economic, religious and cultural aspects. She speaks Arabic, English, French, Dutch, and basic Hebrew.
