"New Challenges - Better Capabilities” international security conference will accompany the NATO Defence Ministers Meeting in Bratislava in order to bring the topics discussed at the official meeting to the public.

 

Bratislava - The two-day accompanying conference of the NATO Defence Ministers Meeting in Bratislava „New Challenges - Better Capabilities” was held on 21 October 2009, in the venue of the historical building of the National Council of the Slovak Republic (Župné námestie 12, Bratislava). During the course of this international security conference, Secretary General of the NATO Anders Fogh Rasmussen delivered one of his first public speeches. Moreover, the conference hosted dozens of high-profile international relations specialists and decision-makers, among them ministers of defence and others.

The conference achieved its aims of interconnecting the political debates held in the confidential atmosphere between the ministers of defence with the broader international security community in the Central European region as well as to bring the topics discussed at the official meeting to the public. The event is organized by the Slovak Atlantic Commission in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence of the Slovak Republic, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Slovak Republic and the NATO Public Diplomacy Division.
