Modern Architecture of Euro-Atlantic Security: NATO-US-EU-Russia Dialogue

On April 1, 2011, the Russian Youth Association for Euro-Atlantic Cooperation (YATA-Russia), with the support of the NATO Information Office in Moscow held a conference on “Modern Architecture of Euro-Atlantic Security: tendencies of development and prospects for NATO-EU-US-Russia dialogue”.

 

The conference saw the participation of more than 40 young russian political and community leaders coming from different regions of the country. Widening the field of cooperation between Russia and Western countries within the framework of the "reset" policy has resulted in an increasing activity of various non-governmental organizations, including those who are interested in a better knowledge of TransAtlantic relations. Russian ATA and YATA are doing their best to enrich official diplomacy with the purpose to bring it closer and to make it clear to Russian civil society.

 

The purpose of the conference has been to support public diplomacy as an instrument for developing a joint vision of security problem, promoting greater understanding among the youth expert community in Russia, the United States and Europe on key international security challenges, which can be meet only within multilateral framework.


Conference participants has been addressed by high-ranking Russian and foreign diplomats, renowned expert on international security issues, the leaders of Russian and international non-governmental organizations, representatives of leading Moscow and regional universities and journalists, including ATA President, Dr. Karl A. Lamers.
