Mr. Savo Kentera, ATA Vice-President, delivered a speech on the occasion of the launching of the first "2BS Forum (To Be Secure Forum)."

The Forum is an annual high-level forum which will deal with issues of global, Euro-Atlantic security and security in SEE. The main characteristic of this Forum will be the participation of numerous high officials, prominent academics and experts in the field of security policy and related state management.

These important stakeholders will discuss major issues and challenges relating to  international relations and security. The event is meant to be a discussing forum or relevance, and high impact, helping not only to promote new thinking along ‘Chatham House’ rules, but also help promote strategic thinking in reform efforts in SE Europe, build closer ties among key stakeholders and partners and thus make this region a safer and more prosperous place, able to contribute to global challenges in the future.

On behalf of the Euro-Atlantic Club of Montenegro, Minister of Defense Mr. Boro Vučinić and Minister of Justice Mr. Duško Marković let me welcome you to the very 1^st 2BS Forum (To Be Secure Forum), which will be held on June 10-12, 2011 in Budva.

The idea to organize such an event has resulted from the needs of the modern world that require a common understanding and approach best achieved through regional cooperation in addressing global threats.

It is planned that the 2BS Forum is an annual high-level forum with the objective to bring together political decision makers, prominent academics and experts from the field of security and international relations to discuss the major issues of today’s globalised world. Emphasis is placed on an open and constructive discussion as the best form of communication that leads to measurable results. For this reason, we ask all participants to take part in the discussion: to comment, suggest and ask questions about topics that are important for the future security of the region.

In order to achieve the best possible quality the Team of the Euro-Atlantic Club with co-organizers, partners and friends have been working hard for months to put together the agenda of 2BS and to align the program with the current needs of South East Europe and, in this regard, invite the best professionals. In order for you to have a pleasant stay in Montenegro, we decided to choose the most attractive place for the venue of the Forum and also designed a side program that will enable the participants to get closer to the Montenegrin culture and people.

We are honored that the 2BS Forum is organized in cooperation with the Ministry of Defence and the Ministry of Justice of Montenegro and in partnership with NATO, the U.S. Embassy in Podgorica and the Balkan Trust for Democracy in Belgrade. I would also like to stress the importance of the corporate sector and their contribution to the Forum: Mercedes-Benz, Automotive Ltd, Atlas Group, Montenegro Airlines, Plantaže, Atlas TV, Nexus Public Services, Hotel Splendid, Love, McCann Ericson, Guard Popovic Security, and MDI.

Baring in mind that the 2BS Forum is organized for the first time, at this point it is difficult to say that result will be, but we are certain that we have made every effort in organizing the Forum at a high level and we can safely promise that we will try to make more and more progress every year.
