The Euro-Atlantic Council of Macedonia (EACM), on the 21st of November 2011, organized a public promotion titled "Smart Defence - the New NATO Concept"

This event aimed to introduce the public to the newest processes in the North-Atlantic Alliance. Furthermore, was designed to develop a public debate within the professional circles in the areas of security, politics and the military. 

At the event were present diplomatic, political and military representatives, key staff from within the Armed Forces, as well as representatives of the academic community and civil society. 

Speakers at the conference were:

• Fatmir Besimi, Minister of Defence of RM;
• Lazar Elenovski, President of the EACM ;
• Maria Schuurman, Dutch Ambassador ;
• Christopher Yvon, British Ambassador ; and
• Jean-Claude Schlumberger, French Ambassador.
