To Be Secure Forum (TBS 2012)

On June 4th to 6th, the Atlantc Council of Montenegro, member of the Atlantic Treaty Association organized its annual 2BS FORUM (To Be Secure Forum).

Two weeks after the NATO Chicago Summit the 2BS Forum 2012 provided political and expert elites a perfect platform to engage in fruitful discussions about the key issues that has been addressed at the Chicago Summit. 2BS Forum tackled the global economic crisis and its effects on the worlds’ security. the Forum encouraged significant discussion regarding the most important dilemmas in the field of international security and cooperation.

Under the title “SECURITY CHALLENGES - CHICAGO SUMMIT: WHAT CAN THE WESTERN BALKANS OFFER?” the 2BS Forum addressed some of the major issues of international relations and security, such as the fight against global and cyber terrorism, combating organized crime and corruption, Euro-Atlantic integration, the perspective of security development in SEE, the Role of Intelligence Service in Democratic Society, Arab Spring, NATO’s Smart Defense, Europe and Economic Crisis, U.S. Foreign Policy, and many other topics that are crucial for SEE and the world at large.

On the sidelines of 2BS Forum, YATA members from different countries held workshop under the title “Young people as a part of public opinion”. YATA representatives had an open discussion regarding problems which has occurred between YATA national chapters and how to reconnect young people to act in more united way. This year’s 2BS Forum hosted twelve members of different YATA chapters. Countries represented by YATA were: Albania, Denmark, Germany, Macedonia, Slovenia, Ukraine, Serbia and Croatia.
