ATA's 58th General Assembly - Rome, Italy

The 58th ATA General Assembly took place from 4 February to 6 February 2013 at the Chamber of Deputies of the Italian Parliament and the NATO Defense College in Rome. Delegates from over thirty national ATA and YATA chapters participated in vibrant debate and discussion on a broad range of security-related issues at their respective conferences, from cyber security topics to missile defense and energy security. For the first time, the Council meeting spurred engaging dialogues on transatlantic security policy, while the subsequent forums gave delegates a deeper insight into these pressing transatlantic security challenges. Click here to learn more.

  • NATO Secretary General addresses NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Luxembourg
    The NATO-led mission in Afghanistan was a main point of discussion during the joint meeting of the NATO Parliamentary Assembly and the North Atlantic Council at the Assembly’s spring session, attended by NATO Secretary General Anders Fogh Rasmussen on Friday (17 May 2013) in Luxembourg. ''In 2001, Afghanistan was used as a launching pad by international terrorists to devastating effect. That launching pad is no more and the threat to our nations has been reduced. So we have made real and tangible progress,'' the Secretary General said.
  • North Atlantic Council to attend NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Luxembourg
    The North Atlantic Council will hold a joint meeting with the NATO Parliamentary Assembly in Luxembourg on 17 May 2013. On that occasion the Secretary General will deliver a keynote speech entitled ''Afghanistan : Worth the Cost''.
  • The NATO Defense College in Brazil - 8 May: Europe Day Conference ''A Secure Europe in a Multipolar World''
    The European Security Strategy is the document in which the European Union clarifies its security strategy, aimed at achieving a secure Europe in a better world, identifying the threats facing the Union, defining its strategic objectives and setting out the political implications for Europe. The European Security Strategy was drawn up in 2003 under the authority of the EU's High Representative for the Common Foreign and Security Policy, Javier Solana, and adopted by the European Council in Brussels on 12 and 13 December 2003.
