Ruxandra Popa was appointed as the Deputy Secretary General for Policy (NATO-PA) as of 1 March 2011.   Before that, she was the director of the Committee on the Civil Dimension of Security since joining the NATO PA in August 2005.

In 2004-2005, Ms. Popa was a lecturer in International Law and International Relations at Sciences Po Paris (Nancy campus) and at the French Institut National des Langues et Civilisations Orientales.  Previously, she worked as a research assistant with several international and European organisations and research centres, including the NATO PA, the Brookings Institution in Washington, and the European Parliament.

Ms. Popa earned a Masters in Public Administration from Sciences Po Paris and one in International Law from the Sorbonne.  She also studied at the Humboldt University in Berlin and worked for a member of the German Bundestag as part of the International Parliamentary Internship.

Ms. Popa is a national from France and Romania.  She is fluent in English and German and has a basic knowledge of Spanish and Italian.
